Valentine's Day ... Online!

Obviously, the web is flush with... free stuff, and we don't need to remind you all of that. But in terms of Valentine's Day offerings, some of you may not know about just how much the Internet has to offer. So, if you're remorse today for not finding that perfect someone to spend the most romantic day of the year (?) with, have no fear: Anthem will successfully keep you entertained and involved while those of us who are in relationships are out revitalizing the economy.

Deliberately Valentine-themed

Psyop has a very cute Valentine's Day film online... the soundtrack is unfortunately a VHS or Beta song.

Mobius Band is offering a Valentine's Day EP, Love Will Reign Supreme, for free download. The six covers are pretty darn solid; we're fans of the cover of Daft Punk's "Digital Love."

Ever wonder how other cultures and societies react to Valentine's Day? While it's largely an American celebration of love (and greeting cards, flowers, and chocolate), it's indeed recognized internationally, particularly in Japan. What Japan Thinks―a English language blog that translates and republished Japanese polls and statistics of all varieties for the curious Japanophile―has just posted a Valentine's-themed post, "Miserable Valentines In Japan" that's worth checking out. It'll at least make you melancholy singles out there feel a little better about yourselves; others are experiencing your pain in solitude! 100% of women surveyed said their saddest Valentine's Day memory was not giving chocolate to their crush; 100% of men surveyed said theirs was not receiving any. (In Japan, women give men chocolate!)

Non-Valentine-themed but still worth mentioning

If you're not stoked about the new Indiana Jones film, take a couple minutes to check out the new trailer. Finally an action movie that isn't rooted in 21st century cynicism and fear. This'll be fun.

We all remember the Sunday Funnies (or still read them), but can all agree that they don't tend to pack any sort of punch. (Garfield's still around?) Before you lose all faith in the art of gag strips, though, check out the New York Times' Sunday Magazine very own Funny Pages. The latest contributing artist to finish a story (18 full pages) was Dan Clowes, but other greats like Seth and Chris Ware have contributed. And you don't even have to subscribe.
