Where the Wild Things Are: Restart

It's just plain cruel to be led on for months and months and then told to forget about it, but that's what Warner Bros. has done to its exuberant Where the Wild Things Are fans and film followers. The Dave Eggers/Spike Jonze film adaptation of Maurice Sendak's seminal children's book, Where the Wild Things Are, had been in production for months (with only one official shot off the set!) with no end in sight when WB announced that it would probably reshoot the entire film.

So what is it that the studio executives are having problems with exactly? The Jim Henson Creature Shop suits need to be fixed, Max Records, the kid playing Max, is just no good, and the "overall tone" is not popular. The founder of McSweeney's might just be too high-brow and the cult status of one of Anthem's favorite director's might be too cumbersome for the studio to deal with.
