DC Shoes House Warming Party Photos

Text: Nik Mercer

Los Angelians can make a party out of anything; literally any reason to celebrate anything can turn into an all-night rager (post-cavity filling wine & cheese party; "I've got all this PBR leftover from the last party we had just for the sake of having a party party").

A usual hodge-podge crowd of party-goers showed up for DC Shoes' Melrose Ave. store "house warming" celebration which was refreshing to see; folks from all walks of life (chicks from the Valley, hard card DC fans, Echo Park hipsters, Hollywood fashionistas) sublimely convened to enthusiastically welcome DC to its new 8025 Melrose Ave. home.

The store itself (which used to be inhabited by Miu Miu, incidentally) is beautiful. It's littered with sleek, modern furniture, retro 60s spherical spinning chairs, and intriguing wall art like a skate deck showcase. The wall directly behind the register at first looks like a normal futurist curved wood installment, but on closer inspection resembles a wooden half pipe... it was a relief to see that DC didn't shed all its gritty skate appeal to fit in next to the chic boutiques that line the rest of the block.

A good DJ, seemingly endless supply of Grey Goose and Monster, delicious finger foods and appetizers, and an overall light-hearted vibe made the evening enjoyable for all, but that essence is sure to not leave anytime soon, so check the place out next time you're in the area!
