Quiksilver Launches Women's Collection, The Vintage Society, and "New Weave"

Text: Nik Mercer

Quiksilver is ushering in the Summer Solstice with a bang this Saturday, June 21. First, the company's launching its new women's collection at the Closet in Santa Monica, California. Then, the party heads over to siteLA for a cocktail party celebrating the debuting of Beth Jones' TheVintageSociety.com and the opening of a new group art show entitled "New Weave." If you can't make the exhibit, don't sweat it too much as it will be on display for three weeks. It doesn't sound like one to miss, though: "'New Weave' explores the influence of age-old textiles and textile-making techniques within today’s contemporary art world. United by an interest in repurposing materials and methods, these artists draw on fabric traditions from imagined pasts, seventies nostalgia and the earliest forms of fiber production." The party's Veev and Peroni won't stick around for such a lengthy duration, though.

Get more information on the siteLA happening here. SiteLA is single-handedly promoting female artists, designers, and innovators in L.A. (Jones being one of the current cast), and we can't say no to that. Help support all parties involved and have a good time in Silver Lake this Saturday. What else are you planning on doing for the solstice, anyway?
