Fellow Los Angeles blogger, Bobby Solomon, wrote of a compelling collection of Ivy League school photos taken by T. Hashiyada in the 1960s, Take Ivy. While you probably won't find the book at your local Barnes & Noble or Borders, you can check out many scans from the compendium here and here.
The academic yet fashionable finesse of Ivy Leaguers is back in full force now with preppy acts like Vampire Weekend, Chester French, and White Rabbits rocking boat shoes, cuffed jeans, and fitted button-ups (although school rugby shirts and emblem-emblazoned sweaters are yet to return), so this tome comes as a welcome look back at our heritage. Or something along those lines...
The images are pretty cool, anyway, and it's especially intriguing to us how they were all shot by this mysterious T. Hashiyada fellow... who would've thought that Japan was looking to the East Coast for sartorial tips forty-some-odd years ago?
