Iceland offers the best of many commodities and services. They've got the cleanest, freshest water; they run the country off of geothermal energy making them greener than most; they supposedly don't have ants; and, they've the highest good-band-to-citizen ratio in the world.
It only makes sense, then, that the tenth annual Iceland Airwaves (October 15 - 19) will be a [refreshingly cold] blast of suave fun. The autumnal five-day event will feature a climate brisker than our Stateside festival offerings, the stylishness of New York Fashion Week, and a handful of stellar musicians. The swooping backdrop that is the Iceland horizon only further enhances the festival's ambiance (what now, Pitchfork Music Fesitval?)
This year's lineup is yet to be fleshed out and confirmed, but so far we know that GusGus, Those New Puritans, The Handsome Furs, of Montreal, and Pnau will all be playing.
To make everything even more appealing, the hospitable Icelandair U.S. is solving our transportation conundrums: if you book your flight before July 14, you'll save upwards of $100 on airfare! Not too shabby. Get the full details here and start planning for the chilliest music festival you'll ever attend.
