F Yeah Fest 5 Lineup Announced

Text: Nik Mercer

There's something especially exciting about reading down the list of a music festival's lineup: it's not just an opener and a headliner, but a ton of openers and headliners, all jumbled together, mixed up, tossed about, and shuffled.

F Yeah Fest—as its debaucherous (albeit now watered-down) name implies—has put on shows for the past four years that successfully merge the crazy energy of intimate club gigs with the flair and showiness of large-scale performances.

From the looks of the recently-announced festival lineup and details, 2008's F Yeah Fest will blow its predecessors away. Some big and small names alike will be playing on August 30 from 4 PM until whenever at the Echo and the EchoPlex. No Age, Negative Approach, Matt Kim, Two Gallants, Ladyhawk, Glass Candy, High Places, Mika Miko, Abe Vigoda will all be there—and we're only mentioned the people we personally want to see! Get the full listing at the official homepage and get some $16 tickets right here as soon as possible... these tend to sell out quick!

August 31 continues the fun with an L.A. Scavenger Hunt, which hasn't happened since a few F Yeah's back. The hunt goes from 2 PM through 7 PM and starts at Echo Park Lake. Teams of two to five people will be assembled, and then the contestants have five hours to attempt as many of the challenges they've been given! Here're some samples of what one might see on the list of hunts:

Everyone on the team gets cornrows and extended fingernails. Must be real cornrows.

One Person on the team getting a flat top with their name shaved into the back of their head.

Life size cut out of Eazy E.

Gay Porno magazine pre-1987

Photograph of team member kissing a stranger on the lips. 50 extra points if they are a senior citizen.

Should be interesting. And, "[t]he grand prize for the hunt will be $2,500 in prizes, $500 in cash, and the largest bottle of whiskey known to man"!

Also, after the hunt, there will be some shows, but we're running out of space here, so hop on over to the official website and unearth those details then.
