August 9 will mark the Los Angeles debut of this new project created by James Murphy (D.F.A. co-founder, LCD Soundsystem frontman) and Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsystem beat machine), Special Disco Version.
As our ringleader DJ's for the evening, they'll be shelling out danceable music from the realm of disco they love from around the world and from artists you might not expect. (Check out their epic mix for Fabric, London.) As for Tim Sweeney, what can one say about him that he hasn't said himself on his WNYU radio show, Beats In Space. Sweeney welcomes the best DJ's from around the world into the radio station and offers each show its playlist and educational interviews with legendary DJ figures like Nicky Siano for free as MP3 download or podcast. Tim is also an incredible internationally touring DJ himself. He's excited to share his vinyl-sensibilities with the people of L.A. on August 9 on his way back from London before heading east to Russia!
Lovefingers is coming back out from New York to join his Black Disco partner, Nitedog, on the decks too. We'll be offering free Black Disco 12" give-aways to people with the best dance moves, too!
The space is a really unique location that is new to the L.A. disco scene. Please visit our site for details on the day of the event or purchase an advance ticket and get updates before the show. Space is limited and we're strongly recommending people buy their tickets in advance to ensure entry into this rare all-star experience.
Donuts' resident visual artist will be creating a special disco video environment for the night... and we're going all night long! (But be sure to get there early as you won't want to miss any of the incredible music and fun-times.)
We'll have a few surprise moments of free donuts at the bar throughout the night. Everyone involved is very excited to present an aural, visual, disco, donuty immersion to the party people of Los Angeles. Spend the night with us!
