Axel Peemoeller's Eureka Carpark, Melbourne

Text: Nik Mercer

Parking lots tend to be especially unappealing—what's to be enjoyed about gigantic blocks of concrete accented by random bands of color?

Axel Peemoeller successfully made navigating such structures into something interesting and prbably enjoyable to drive into! The Eureka Carpark in Melbourne incorporates mind-bending painted instructions (i.e. "UP," "DOWN," "OUT") into an otherwise drab multi-level building.

"In Melbourne I developed a way-finding-system for the Eureka Tower Carpark. The distorted letters on the wall can be read perfectly when standing at the right position. This project won several international design awards," writes Peemoeller!
