Lego Minifigure Turns Thirty

While Diesel's provocatively partying it up to celebrate its third decade of existence, Lego is remembering its most notorious creation, the ubiquitous minifigure, in a more subtle and reverential manner.
That's right: the tiny toys have been around in some form since 1978. While the original looked quite a bit different than the modern standard, the essence of the minifigure has been a mainstay in homes around the globe for thirty years.
Let's remember the simpler times today as we look back upon an era of toy development that didn't revolve around electronic gizmos, franchise marketing deals, and short attention spans.
